Our new super chunky jumper knitting kit is finally here!
It’s been a long time coming, but I’m delighted to be able to shout about our NEW jumper knitting kit: Your New Favourite Jumper.
I love it; it really is my new favourite jumper and thanks to knitting up samples, I now have one in every size. I’m absolutely positive you’re going to love it too so I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about it
1. It’s a great step up for beginner knitters
Knitting garments can seem a BIG step up if you’re a beginner knitter, but they’re really not as scary as you might initially think. In fact, the ‘Your New Favourite Jumper’ is a relatively straight forward knit.
The simple top down construction with raglan sleeves makes use of basic stitches with a few slightly more intermediate additions. In full, the pattern requires you to know how to:
– knit in the round (and magic loop)
– rib stitch
– M1L and M1R
– hold stitches
– backwards loop cast on
– pick up and knit stitches
A lot of these you will already know as a beginner knitter, but if there are some skills which are new to you, don’t worry, you can still knit your Favourite Jumper. We know new stitches can be intimidating which is why we’ve included detailed tutorials of all the new stitches and techniques introduced with this jumper knitting pattern in the pattern booklet itself. See how magic loop works, how to do the backwards loop cast on and pick up stitches and follow along with the step by step photographs and written instructions. A lot of the stitches also have video counterparts on our Youtube channel and we’re hoping to add more to the collection very soon!
2. It’s knit in the round which means no sewing!
I don’t know about you, but I hate sewing. I hate it. The half sewn jumper that’s spent the past two years in Studio Cotton’s office cupboard after I needed to put it somewhere I couldn’t see it can attest to that… So this knit really does live up to its name in the sense that once I’ve cast off the final sleeve, it’s pretty much ready to wear immediately.
Yes, there are a few ends to weave in and two armholes to close, but that’s a 5 minute job as opposed to a couple of hours seaming (and 2 years spent in the naughty cupboard)
3. It’s super quick to knit
Okay. So it’ll take you a bit more than an evening on the sofa, but in terms of jumpers, this is a speedy make.
The super chunky yarn, the 12mm knitting needles and the simple design all come together to create a knitting project you can really see coming together quite quickly. Make a cuppa, sink into the rythmn of the rounds and watch your super chunky jumper come to life. The yoke is satisfying to watch grow and once you’re past that it’s a race to the finish line.
Making Your New Favourite Jumper couldn’t be easier with our knitting kit, too. You’ll receive everything you will need to knit the jumper, including the aforementioned knitting tutorials to help you with the newer stitches if you’re a beginner knitter.
The Your New Favourite Jumper Knitting Kit contains:
- A ‘How To: a Beginners’ Guide to Knitting’ booklet, which guides you through each of the stitches and techniques you need to know
- Your new favourite jumper knitting pattern
- 5 (6) 6 (6) 7 x balls of super chunky vegan acrylic yarn in the colour of your choice
- Set of 10mm bamboo circular knitting needles (40cm)
- Set of 12mm bamboo circular knitting needles (80cm)
- Tapestry needle
All of which are packaged in a light cotton drawstring bag for you to store your knitting when you are not working on it
but if you’ve already got all the tools, then the pattern is available to buy separately, too.
So that’s pretty much it! I’m so proud to finally launch a jumper that has been swimming around in my head for the past year. I find that I’m hugely fussy when it comes to, well, let’s be honest, pretty much everything and this jumper encompasses everything that I want in one. The slightly cropped length is perfect for a fancy french tuck and the cropped balloon sleeves are stylish, but not toooo big that you can’t do anything whilst wearing it. I know I’m going to be living in mine for the whole of knit season and I cannot wait to see you wearing yours, too.
